promote Thai festivals and culture to visitors, Maesa
Elephant Camp will arrange special activities and shows
from our talented elephants during festive times. Some
of the highlight celebrations are: |

1.Children's
Day, on every second Saturday in January
On
every Children's Day, Maesa Elephant Camp will allow
children and students to enter the camp free of charge
to give them the opportunity to get close to elephants
and learn more about their life and intelligence.

2.
National Thai Elephant Day, March 13 th
Thai
people have high esteem and reverence towards elephants
and the Thai government, in 1998, officially announced
March 13th of each year to be the National Thai Elephant
Day. On the Elephant Day, Maesa Elephant Camp will arrange
a grand celebration for its elephants to mark the importance
of this intelligent creature. ‘Satoke', similar
to kantoke, the traditional northern Thai style of dining,
is organised into the

world's
largest
elephant buffet - a marvellous sight to behold, as dozens
upon dozens of giant pachyderms eat to their heart's
content at a great banquet satoke. Children join the
celebrations free of charge to promote the value of
elephants and of the day for them.

3.
Songkran Festival, April 13 th – 15 th
Joining
the nationwide Thai New Year festive celebration, the
Maesa Elephant Camp will decorate the area and create
an atmosphere of Lanna Songkran within the camp to allow
visitors to have a glimpse into Lanna culture. Songkran
celebrations at the camp will be held for a week and
special shows from the elephants will be performed such
as elephants' Wai Kru
(marking respect for teachers and trainers)
ceremony and elephant boxing (a humorous, non-violent
performance).
